The Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a Secondary Education emphasis provides students with a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques, while also preparing them to become effective educators at the middle and high school levels. This program blends rigorous coursework in algebra, calculus, geometry, and statistics with educational theory, classroom management skills, and instructional strategies. Graduates are equipped with both the content knowledge and pedagogical expertise needed to inspire and teach the next generation of mathematicians, empowering students to succeed in an increasingly complex and data-driven world.
The secondary education option is designed for students wishing to be high school mathematics teachers. It requires a minimum of 45 credit hours (27 upper division) in mathematics as well as an additional 30 hours of UCCS Teach courses.
